But urine is sterile, that means it can't be bad! I don't believe this.

Duh, so it doesn't contaminate his urine when he stores his rope and urine in the same container.

Here is a link to a pull testing thread on rockclimbing.com where the guy tests 1" webbing which has been soaked in bleach and then a seperate bit of
1" webbing which has been soaked in battery acid.
The bleach webbing failed at around 22KN and the acid one was much lower than that. http://www.rockclimbing.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2008366;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed; |

Don't stint yourself, go wild and try all sorts of exotic substances on your rope.

Sunlight soap for the ropes, works great!
Graphitte powder for lube, Stops the dirt build up on the hinges you seem to get using oil based products. |

natural wool wash (flakes) for ropes (from mamut tech guys).
I clean my cams and bieners in warm soapy water, work them well underwater. Then rinse clean and let dry. Then I use spray on silicone lubricant, getting none on the slings. Spray on silicone drys immediately and a residue is left on the working parts. I find spray on oils just attract more dirt and graphite powder leaves grey s#%t everywhere. Thats my 2cents worth anyway........ |

I know someone why wanted tot remove the colour from their first biner when he started out. As a result, it is now accepted that an acid bath is not the best
for any climbing gear. I am not sure that it even looked like a biner in the end.
Life's good cause you get to do stuff.
