I was recently on the phone to the Boonah QPWS regarding Access Issues to Mt Greville as I was organising a small trip to this area. He informed me that
legally the area was still open for climbing but this situation will very soon be under threat.
Basically It seems that recently some tool was bolting / cleaning routes up in the grey wall area and was prying massive boulders off the cliff knocking over the surrounding trees and destroying a native Wallaby habitat... I was told that this area was also quite close to the tourist walking trail!
The ranger informed me that this recent action has put the entire area under review in the next few months and what will probably come of it is that all climbing within the gorge will be banned.
The ranger informed me that they know who the responsible party is but so far has been unable to get in contact.
It seems to me this situation needs some urgent attention if climbing is to continue at Mt Greville.
